Monthly Unemployment Bulletins

Claimant Count unemployment data is published on the middle Wednesday of each month.

Monthly Unemployment Bulletins are less detailed than our Quarterly Unemployment Bulletins, which are published elsewhere. Monthly Bulletins contain information on Claimant Count Unemployment (the number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance), the Claimant Count proportion (the percentage of the estimated population of working age resident in the area) and numbers of Job Vacancies notified to Jobcentre Plus branches in the Hertfordshire Area.

Claimant Counts and Proportions are shown for Hertfordshire and it's ten District Council areas, with comparison data for the UK, Great Britain, Greater London, the South East and the East of England. Counts and Proportions are also shown for Male and Female Claimants. Comparison is made with Counts from the same month in the previous year for each of the above.

Tables giving Monthly unemployment from the Labour Force Survey provide the official unemployment rate at a National and Regional level.

Up until May 2011 these bulletins were published as Adobe Acrobat documents and these are available under the 'In this area' section of this page. From June 2011 the format of the bulletin has been changed to a more dynamic format, the latest edition of the new Monthly Unemployment Bulletin is available via the link below.
