Children’s Services places the interests of children firmly at the centre of everything we do, working with families to offer quality advice, support and guidance; build children's confidence and self-esteem and prepare them for life ahead.
Professionals from a wide range of services work together to help children in Hertfordshire to develop to their full potential in a safe and thriving environment. Our staff work closely with national and local voluntary groups, the police, health service, district councils and the private sector.
We aim to help children with a variety of needs: those who may have learning difficulties, physical difficulties, social problems, are particularly gifted, need help in schooling or need someone to talk to.
Children's services plan
The latest children's services plan, 'Children's Services Ambition: 2013-2016' is now available here.
Hertfordshire County Council’s agreed priorities for our children and young people are for the:
- Opportunity to get the best out of life
- Opportunity to share in Hertfordshire’s strong economy
- Opportunity to be healthy and stay safe
- Opportunity to take part
It is our aspiration that all children and young people enjoy a happy, healthy and safe childhood that gives them the foundations for adulthood and the opportunity to get the best out of life.
