The County Council through its commitment to localism is seeking to increase the opportunities for local councillors and communities to decide how money is spent in their community. A number of initiatives are currently in place. Further information can be found by following the links or contacting your local County Councillor.

The Member locality budget was launched in 2009. Each elected member of the County Council has £10,000 to spend on worthwhile projects in their community that promote social, economic or environmental wellbeing. Applications for funding can be submitted by community groups and organisations.

The Highways locality budget was launched in 2011 allowing the elected member of the County Council to allocate funding for highway maintenance including road resurfacing, pavement repairs, drainage clearing but can also be used to support traffic calming schemes and smaller projects, such as hedge trimming, sign cleaning and white line painting.

To find out how to contact your local county councillor, enter your postcode into the ‘Go Local’ box on the HertsDirect homepage or via the Your Community pages. You can then access a wealth of information about what’s going on locally and can use the 'Your representatives' tab to access your county councillor's contact details.
