yth_transporticons 16? What Next? Once the stress of your GCSEs has passed and you've got your results, you need to decide your next move.

There are quite a few options: stay on at school to do A-levels, go to college to study, go out to work, or maybe you would prefer to join an apprenticeship scheme.

Nobody's situation will be exactly the same and there will be many things that will help you make your decision.

If you think the cost of travel means you can't afford to carry on at school or college, then the information in this section could help you decide. Similarly if you are disabled and think getting to school or college would be a problem, the information here may help.

We offer discount schemes for bus and train travel in Herts. You can download and print an application form by using the links at the bottom of this page, or follow the 'What am I entitled to?' section for more detailed information.

Financial assistance is available for students attending school sixth form or FE college aged 16 to 18 years old (and those who started their course before their 19th birthday).
