Queen's Diamond Jubilee '

The Diamond Jubilee in 2012 marks 60 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Celebrations will be focussed on an extended bank holiday weekend in June.

The weekend has been extended by moving the late May bank holiday to Monday 4th June and adding an extra Jubilee bank holiday on Tuesday 5th June 2012.

For the Royal Wedding back in April 2011, Hertfordshire had more street parties than any other area in the UK. Your county council would like to maintain the county’s record, and enable communities to come together and celebrate. So we are looking at how we can improve our policies so we are keeping the process simple.

We will not be charging communities to close residential roads in Hertfordshire for street parties on either Sunday 3rd, Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th June 2012.

To apply for a road closure to hold a street party in celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee, download the form from the link below and e-mail it to us at hertfordshire.highways@hertshighways.org.uk or send it to us at the address on the form.

Closing date for the applications is 1st May 2012.

Missed the deadline too apply
We are sorry but the deadline for applications to close the road has now passed. Due to the time it takes to create a Traffic Regulation Order to legally allow the road to be closed for an event it is not possible to accommodate your request.
However, all is not lost, you may still be able to hold a party on private land, a front garden or driveway where you do not need to close the road. There is more information about these sorts of 'street meet' available on the street party website;
www.streetparty.org.uk/residents/street-meet.aspx

Finding out where street parties are being held.
We are unable to provide detailed information about where parties are being held
A map has been produced showing the general location of street parties across Hertfordshire based on post code but not showing enough detail to determine specific streets that are closed.
Professional contacts such as emergency services and district councils will be advised of which roads are closed.
