Online Indexes and Catalogues - information

The Online Archive Catalogue enables you to search or browse detailed descriptions of our holdings, such as ecclesiastical parish records and the collections of the Hertfordshire Boards of Guardians. The site is newly launched and we are adding to the content all the time.

Hertfordshire Names Online allows you internet access to Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies indexes to local and family history sources, such as pre 1837 marriages, wills, newspapers, court registers, archive catalogue index and records about the poor.

Access To Archives is a national website which allows you to explore some of the catalogues in our collection. Click on the link under "external links" to search this website.

Searching the catalogues and indexes is free and you can do a simple or advanced search. If you find any items of interest you can use the document reference numbers to pre-order a document to view in our Archive Reading Room or request a copy from us.
