Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies

HALS general

We are the specialist centre for the preservation and discovery of Hertfordshire's history.

Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies is the ideal place for researching your family or local history. Anyone can use our records and there is no charge for consulting them.

Advance notice: On Saturday 13th September, we are holding a day of talks on World War 1 in the Archive Reading Room.  For this reason, all normal HALS services, including access to archive documents, will be available in the Local Studies Library between 9.00am-1.00pm.   It is advisable to request documents in advance if possible. Documents required from out stores must be requested by 2.00pm on the previous Friday afternoon.

You can now follow Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies on Twitter for news and events.
