Nursery admissions 2014 - 2015

Nursery admissions 2013-14

The online system for nursery admissions is now closed for viewing and accepting offers. Contact nurseries direct if you have not already made an application for a nursery place for 2014/15. The deadline to accept was 7 May 2014.

If by 7 May you have not been offered a place you can:

  • View the list of nurseries with vacancies
  • Register a continued interest direct to the nursery at any time
  • Contact the Family Information Service who have details of private, voluntary and independent providers not on the online system who may have places available.

Is my child the right age?
The nursery admissions process for September 2014 is for children born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011. Hertfordshire County Council has a duty to provide access to 15 hours a week of free early years provision for all three and four year olds. Full time provision would normally be 3 hours per session 5 days a week; part time would normally be fewer days per week.

When will my child start at nursery?
The county council has a two intake policy for nursery admissions:
• September 2014 intake for children born between 1 September 2010 and 28 February 2011
• January 2015 intake for children born between 1 March 2011 and 31 August 2011
However, some schools operate a different intake system. Please speak to the school direct to confirm your child’s start date.

Some village schools in Hertfordshire have traditionally taken nursery-aged children into their Foundation class.  These schools are not included on the Hertfordshire Nursery Online System.  If you would like to apply to these schools, please contact them direct to discuss the availability of nursery places for 2014-15.
