Going to a new school is a very important step for your child. Hertfordshire County Council wants to make the process of applying for a school place as easy as possible for parents and carers.
The information on these pages is intended to guide you through the application and allocation process. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Applications for September 2014
Applications for admission into primary, infant, junior and middle schools to start in September 2014 open on 11 November 2013. You can access the online application system here.
Leaflets explaining how to apply will be distributed to families at the beginning of November. They will be posted directly to families of 2014 reception aged children registered with a Hertfordshire GP and distributed by schools to children in year 2 in infant and year 4 in first schools.

The application process for admission into secondary, upper, studio schools and university technical colleges to start in September 2014 closed on 31 October 2013.
Online applications can still be made but will now be treated as late applications. If there are exceptional reasons why you were unable to make your application by the closing date (31 October 2013) please write to the Admissions and Transport team, giving your reasons and enclosing supporting evidence. Evidence must be received by 6 December 2013.

Parents and carers can continue making late applications for this process. The last date for online applications is 30 January 2014. To make a late application, you can access the online application system here.

In Year Applications
In year applications are where children wish to change school outside the usual transfer period. The process for applying for In Year admissions has changed and you should carefully read the information on the In Year pages using the link on the left.
We aim to process In Year applications within 10 working days of receipt, although at this busy time of year please allow 15 working days.
