Going to a new school is a very important step for your child. Hertfordshire County Council wants to make the process of applying for a school place as easy as possible for parents and carers.

The information on these pages is intended to guide you through the application and allocation process. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Applications for September 2013

Under 11s

Allocations from the first run of Primary/Junior/Middle continuing interest are released on Friday 17 May, after 3pm. Click here for more information.

Applications for the second continuing interest run must be submitted by 24 May 2013. Online applications can be made between 20 and 24 May.

Secondary Transfer

Allocations from the second run of Secondary/Upper/Year 10 continuing interest are released on Monday 29 April, after 6pm, click here for more information. After this date places will be allocated as and when vacancies occur.

Nursery

Allocations for a Nursery school place are released on 30 April 2013, click here for further information.

Berkhamsted Schools Reorganisation

On 26 November 2012, Cabinet ratified the proposal to reorganise the schools in Berkhamsted under a 'two tier' system. Click here for further information. 

Admission Arrangements for 2014/15

The County Council's determined admission arrangements for the 2014/15 academic year are available here. The County Council will be retaining the same arrangements used for admission to the 2013/14 academic year.

In Year Applications

In year applications are where children wish to change school outside the usual transfer period. Please use the link on the left for further information about In Year Admissions including a copy of the application form. We aim to process In Year applications within 10 working days of receipt. A link to the In Year application form is below.

In Year application form 2012-13  -  You can print the form fill it in and post it back, or complete it electronically and submit it by email.

Part A - to be completed by current school  -  You must also ask your child's current school to complete and return Part A.
