Education and learning
Our schools are supported by a team of educational experts who provide training and support linked to national initiatives. We also carry out a programme of school monitoring, challenge, support and, where necessary, intervention.
In addition to more than 8,000 school staff, we have over 3,000 professionals working across the county in other roles. These include educational pychologists, attendance improvement officers, social workers, occupational therapists, community development officers and school advisers.

Hertfordshire County Council is the Local Authority with responsibility for education in Hertfordshire (previously known as the Local Education Authority or LEA). This comes under the remit of the Children's Services department.
