Geography of Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire is located just to the north of London. It also borders the counties of Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex.
Nearly two thirds of Hertfordshire’s rural area is designated Green Belt. Picturesque woodland, river valleys, and open farmland make up a beautiful landscape.

Hertfordshire has about one million residents who live in small to medium sized towns and a large number of scattered villages. The county’s towns mix the ancient and historic with New Towns and Garden Cities.
