www.hertsdirect.org has been developed to provide you with a convenient and secure online service. HCC is committed to the online privacy of all its users.

This privacy policy covers www.hertsdirect.org. It will be clearly stated on the sections concerned which areas of this website are managed on behalf of HCC by a Partner organisation and where, due to the nature of the work they do for HCC, require their own Privacy Policy to be enforced.

We evaluate the relevant sites which we provide links to but HCC does not give approval or endorsement of those websites and we are not responsible for their content. As such, links to other websites are not covered by this policy and individuals are advised to check the privacy policies of those other sites for their terms and conditions.

Information we collect

HCC does not collect or store any personal information about individuals who browse this website other than where you voluntarily choose to give your personal information via email or online forms used to enquire about or apply for a service.

The information provided by users via email or online forms will be acted upon according to the content of the communication. HCC will retain all communications received in order to produce statistical analysis reports on the comments received. All personal information collected on the website will only be used for the purpose of delivering the service for which the information was supplied.
Any personal data collected through this website will be treated as confidential under the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Information we collect during recruitment

Manpower UK Limited are contracted to manage Hertfordshire County Council's Recruitment Centre. The information you have provided on this form will be sorted and processed by both Manpower UK Limited and Hertfordshire County Council to identify candidates for employment opportunities. We may also review partially completed registrations and contact you to discuss opportunities which may be of interest to you. Your personal information will not be disclosed to any outside agency unless we are legally obliged to do so. Application forms from successful applicants will be used by Hertfordshire County Council as a basis for your personal record. Forms from unsuccessful applicants who have not requested that their details are held for consideration for any future vacancies will be stored securely and destroyed 12 months after the closing date for the vacancy.

Data Privacy notice for Business partners

Information about individuals may be processed by companies working on behalf of, and in partnership with HCC for the purposes of:
Informing clients about additional business or job opportunities, or by nature of the work undertaken by a specific department e.g. Adult Care Services, Children, Schools and Families.
The consent of the client will always be sought on occasions where it may be necessary for personal information to be given to third parties.

Information to improve our website

Our web servers automatically log the user’s IP address and session information such as the duration of the visit and type of browser being used. Visitors to our website remain anonymous as we do not collect information from which we could identify an individual. The information we do collect is only used for system administration and to provide statistics which HCC uses for evaluation of the site.
