The current (2nd) edition of Roads in Hertfordshire provides detailed advice on the transport aspects of new residential and commercial developments. As well as setting out advice relating to the layout of roads and other highway features for the developments, the guide contains details of the standards that must be met before adoption of highways can take place.
In order to acknowledge the status of Manual for Streets the County Council adopted a statement on the application of the Manual on roads under its jurisdiction in 2009.
Draft new edition
The guide is currently under review to incorporate guidance issued since the publication of the 2nd edition in 2001. We have produced a draft and would like your comments on it. Much of the text is based on the 2nd edition but there are new chapters to cover areas not deemed appropriate for a guide aimed solely at new development. This has made it longer than the current edition but we have also reorganised it and hope that that makes it easier to navigate.
