Student Season Ticket

Student Season Tickets are available to school children and full time college students who travel on local bus services contracted by Hertfordshire County Council. It offers a saving of up to 20% on home to school travel fares.

Tickets are available for a complete academic year, full term, or half term. To obtain one you will need to complete a Student Season Ticket application form. Please note that it takes 20 working days for your application to be processed.

As well as being able to pay by cheque or postal order, you will, from September 2008 have the option to purchase Student Season Tickets ONLY, using debit/credit cards. To do this you need to complete an application form with your card details and return to us. These forms will be processed within 24 hours of receipt and the information will be shreaded once processed. If you choose to pay by debit/credit card please return the form and photograph in the brown envelope provided. We strongly recommend that you send in your application form recorded or special delivery.

A Hertfordshire SaverCard is no longer required to accompany the Student Season Ticket, however we ask that you supply a recent passport sized (45mm x 35mm) photograph, head and shoulders against a white background, to accompany your application.

School children who do not qualify for free or assisted travel between home and school may be able to apply for a Student Season Ticket, this is only available on HCC contracted local bus services.

Pupils or students aged 16 and over who live outside the administrative county of Hertfordshire do not qualify for a 16 to 18 year old Hertfordshire SaverCard. Adult Season tickets are available for these students.

The main benefit of the Student Season Ticket is a saving of up to 20% on the cost of home to school travel. The highest discount is given if you purchase the newly available ticket that is valid for the complete academic year. Priority for seats will be given to Student’s Season Ticket holders over children purchasing single tickets on routes with limited seating capacity. It is strongly recommended that you purchase a Student Season Ticket if you want to travel on these routes.

Travel is restricted to Student Season Ticket holders only on services 836, 837, 838, 846, 847, 849, 851, 852, 853 and 858 to St. Clement Danes School in Chorleywood. 839 service no longer running to St. Clement Danes School. The route 846 has change its route to accommodate the removal of the 839 service. To obtain prices and details of these routes please refer to the St. Clements Danes School website. Here you will be able to down load a form to apply for a Student Season Ticket. These are sold on a first come, first serve, basis at the start of each academic year.

If you need to travel on services 888, 889, 890 or 891 to Edwinstree School and Freman College in Buntingford, you need to apply for a Student Season Ticket. There is a high level of demand for a limited number of seats on these services and these are sold on a first come first serve basis at the start of each academic year.

A Student Season Ticket can be obtained for ANY service operated under contract to Hertfordshire County Council. Each ticket will be valid on a specified route between a designated stop and your school. In order to calculate the costs, you need to know the correct child single fare for the journey you want to make. Please contact us for information on fares if you are unsure. The cost of a Student Season Ticket is based on one return journey per day and is different for each term and half term. No reductions are given for late ticket applications. Please use the cost calculator on the form (available below) to work out the cost of your ticket: please note that fares on school routes are normally revised in September each year.

There is no longer a separate application form for St. Clement Danes Student Season Tickets.
