Company Of Ten

An amateur group founded in 1934, the Company has grown to a membership of over 400. It owns the Abbey Theatre, St Albans, presenting ten productions each season, also another 6 - 8 productions each season which are not CoT. These are staged in the 230-seat auditorium, the 78-seat studio theatre, occasionally overseas. Each production generally has a run of eight public performances plus a Company preview and a special night for local charities.

Directors are chosen from the membership and casting is by audition to ensure that newcomers are given every opportunity to participate as soon as they join. New backstage crew members are invited for work on sound and lighting, set construction, costume design and as stage managers. New members are always welcome.

There is a thriving youth group, the Company of Teens, which has its own programme of events.
