Artist’s Statement:
My most recent work concerns collection of biological images and an assemblage of identities. My work is textured, intricate & multilayered, often involving light and transparent sections. It is delicately sculpted from collections of objects sounds & patterns. From these I build up complex and intricate pieces. I am inspired by the way that objects, things, colours, shapes & patterns interact to produce a response in the viewer: A visual experience can be transformed synaesthetically to a physical feeling, the senses can be aroused, or through the processes of memory & cultural identity the artwork can inspire an emotional response. Sometimes the components or materials simply seem to have a particular 'quality'. I take these components, be they a colour, a pattern, a sugarcube, a material, a shard of glass, an eyelash or a snowflake, and put them together in a way which emphasises & augments their essence.
