East Herts Council has an agreement with Papworth Housing Advice Service to give advice on and supply 'Piper Lifelines' to any older member of the community, who feel they may need one and people with disabilities.
A Piper Lifeline alarm enables vunerable people to stay in touch with an emergency control centre, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When the button is pressed the operator receiving the call will know immediately who is calling, even if you are unable to speak, because each alarm has a unique number. The operator will then arrange for the appropriate assistance needed, this could range from one of the emergency services to a visit from a person you have previously nominated, such as a relative or close neighbour.
The community alarm service can be used by anyone who feels at risk in his or her home because of age, disability, illness or isolation. The service can be telephoned direct to arrange a demonstration, so please contact for further information.
