Care and support

Where to look for help and advice

Domestic violence

If you are a victim of domestic violence or abuse you need to:
  • recognise that it is happening to you.
  • accept that you are not to blame.
  • talk to someone.
The police and many other organisations can help and support you, but only you can take the vital first steps. These pages are designed to help you get the support, guidance and encouragement you may need to escape the abuse.

If you or someone you know are in immediate danger from an abuser dial 999.

To speak in confidence to a trained adviser ring the free Hertfordshire Domestic Violence/Abuse Line on 08 088 088 088 (Monday to Friday 10am - 8pm). This number will not show up on your telephone bill.
