Publication Scheme

Introduction

What does the County Council Publication Scheme cover?

This Publication Scheme covers information routinely published by Hertfordshire County Council. It is a list of 'classes', groups, or types of information. The classes are arranged in sections, e.g. Democracy, Campaigns, Public Consultation etc.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the council has a duty to specify what information classes it makes available, how the information is made available, and whether it is available free of charge or upon payment.

Hertfordshire County Council is committed to openness and actively seeks to make available information about how it works, its decisions and the services it provides.

How do I obtain information listed in this Publication Scheme?

The majority of the information the Publication Scheme contains is freely available on this website. Reference copies of the Publication Scheme are available for consultation in local libraries. If you would like a printed copy of the Scheme or a copy in Braille, on tape, or in a language other than English contact the Customer Service Centre (see contact details below).

Other information is available on request from our Customer Service Centre. Tel: 01438 737555 or 01923 471555 for 01923 and 020(8) codes

Some information has been marked as ''available for inspection at County Hall''. This is because some information is either too large or in an unsuitable format to be made electronically available or photocopied. Contact the Customer Service Centre to arrange to inspect this information.

You may be asked to pay an administrative charge if you want paper copies of certain information.

What about the information not included in this Scheme?

This scheme only covers information created by Hertfordshire County Council. In future, more information will be made available in a range of formats. This Publication Scheme will be revised to include this additional information.

Unless otherwise stated, all information within this scheme relates to the currently available or published version.

If the information you require is historical it may be available from the Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS) service under normal access arrangements. Telephone 01923 471333 or 01438 737333, email hertsdirect@hertscc.gov.uk, or write to HALS, Hertfordshire County Council, County Hall, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8DQ

Information from Central Government including parliamentary papers such as Acts, Bills, White and Green papers are available from The Stationery Office (www.tso.co.uk) or through Hertfordshire public libraries.

If you are unable to find what you are looking for within the Scheme, contact the Customer Service Centre for more information. Information not specifically mentioned in the Scheme may still be available on request.

Other places to look for general information about local government

Your query on a local matter may subsequently involve a search for national, regional, or other consultative material produced by government, other public bodies, or voluntary sector organisations.

You can get advice on where to look by contacting the Customer Service Centre, Hertfordshire public libraries, Citizen's Advice Bureaux, or through the web using a search engine.

How do I find out about information you may hold about me personally?

The council has procedures for providing access to information held about individuals. To ensure the Council complies with Data Protection legislation, this is managed through a central point. If you wish to identify whether information is held about you, and if so, for what reasons, please write to:
