Careers Events for Women

Firefighter Hannah Gould Women make great Firefighters

“Women are currently under-represented in operational roles in the Fire and Rescue Service and this is why many people perceive firefighting as a male occupation,” said Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Mark Yates.

“Firefighting is a great career opportunity for women who are fit and active and enjoy a challenge and we would encourage women who are considering changing their career to come along to this event to find out more.”

Keith Emsall, Executive Member for Community Safety said; "Currently in England just 2.2 per cent of full-time firefighters are women. This highlights how important these events are to encourage more women into the fire service in order to create a workforce that reflects the community it serves."
