Open days for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people
Dare to be different-Break the stereotype-Become a Firefighter!
If you think the Fire Service is just for white men then think again!
Black, Asian and Minority ethnic people are currently under-represented in the Fire Service and we’d like to change that!
We recognise that we’re missing out on a pool of talented and skilled people who have an important contribution to make.
In HFRS we want to encourage applications from a wider group of people. This includes: women, black people and people from minority ethnic backgrounds. We are holding a series of events to encourage people from these groups to consider a career in the Fire Service. Some of these events are specifically for black, asian and minority ethnic people. They include:
- Careers open day for black, asian and minority ethnic people - an introduction to HFRS. This will include an overview of the many roles within the Fire Service, covering operational, professional and support roles. It will also include a tour of the Training Centre, an introduction to the Service, an over view of the role of a firefighter and an overview of the selection process. You will also have the opportunity to have a go at the physical tests and the psychometric tests similar to those used during the selection process. These seminars will be held either at our Training Centre in Stevenage or at our new Community Fire Station at St Albans.
- Application workshops will include the opportunity to practise answering questions similar to those on the firefighter application form.
