A video that features disabled people, who have escaped from a fire in their homes has been made and is available through Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to organisations or groups in Hertfordshire.
The video features disabled people and looks at their fears and concerns about fire safety in the home and how to overcome them.
The aim of the video is to raise awareness about fire risks in the home for disabled people. It should also help to educate disabled people about the possible risks and how they may be overcome. It will encourage the use of smoke alarms and escape plans.
Disabled people were involved in the making of the video and the video production team received advice about fire safety from officers at Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
It highlights the free information, which is available to disabled people. This video is a great way to get our message across to the wider community. The video is another example of ‘partnership working’, in our drive to create safer communities. Combining the expertise and knowledge of a number of agencies has enabled us to create a quality product that will help some of the most vulnerable in our community.
