EERA Chelmer model population projections

To inform its response to the Regional Spatial Strategy, EERA commissions projections for the East of England region. All the projections are 2001-based and comprise trend-based and policy-based projections of population, households and dwellings, produced using the Chelmer method.

EERA is presently commissioning a series of dwellings-led forecasts from the Population and Housing Research Group (PHRG) at Anglia Ruskin University, based on the Chelmer model. These will be produced and published by EERA subject to the capacity of PHRG to conduct the work. These forecasts are intended to support responses to the East of England Plan or Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) and its associated processes.

The early series of dwellings-led forecasts are to reflect the implications of the various successive housing provision proposals:
Group 1 - Update of “original” RSS to incorporate latest demographic assumptions - July 2006
Group 2 - EiP Panel recommendations - September 2006
Group 3 - Secretary of State’s proposed changes, modifications of the Panel’s recommendations - December 2006
Group 4 - Approved plan after consultation - due Spring/Summer 2007

For the Group 3 forecasts see the links below.
