Every couple of years the Office for National Statistics (ONS) publishes national population projections and based on these sub-national population projections which are disaggregated to county and district level. These are trend-based projections, which take no account of future local or national policies and strategies, but are based of what has occurred in recent years. They project the population at five year intervals over 25 years, by 5 year ageband and sex.
The current projections are the 2006-based sub-national population projections which were published on 12th June 2008. These give projected populations through to 2031. They are based on the 2006 mid year population estimates.
CLG household projections

The latest sub-national household projections are the 2004 based household projections, these were originally published in March 2007 but as the 2004 based population projections were been revised the household projections were revised too in February 2008.
