With so many sources of population data it is difficult to find the most appropriate data. Here is a guide to the best total population figures for areas within Hertfordshire.

Local Authorities

The most up to date total population estimates for Hertfordshire and the ten District Council areas are the Registrar General's Mid Year Population Estimates. These are published on a yearly basis, the latest available figures are for 2006, but yearly estimates are available for 1981 onwards.

Towns

The most up to date total population estimates for Towns in Hertfordshire are derived from the 2001 Census and are available here.

Villages
