About the Herts External Resources Network

What is HERN?

HERN is a network of organisations and individuals who aim to maximise the amount of external funding (money that is sourced from outside the county) that can be brought into Hertfordshire.

What does HERN do?

HERN aims to improve Hertfordshire’s share of funding to meet the county’s needs; support and improve better joint partner strategies and planning on external funding; optimise external funding and align resources with strategic aims through better planning; identify appropriate performance measures and to monitor progress regularly

How does HERN work?

At the heart of HERN’s approach to external funding in Hertfordshire is a commitment to work for Hertfordshire as a community, rather than exclusively for our individual organisations. HERN has been built on the basis that partnership working and information sharing will strengthen our ability to optimise resources for the county.

Who can use HERN?

HERN resources including this website are available for any organisation in Hertfordshire trying to increase its external funding to improve delivery of services to or the quality of life of people living in the county.

How can I find out more about HERN?

You can find out more by contacting printing out a copy of the information leaflet attached below or contact Andrew Burt on 01992 555213 or andrew.burt@hertscc.gov.uk.
