Transition Plan	The plan made at the first annual review after a pupils 14th birthday, to begin to establish the future plans, as a pupil with SEN approaches the time to leave school. It sets out the young persons needs in the future as they move from school to further education or training and then to adult life in society. The transition plan is then reviewed with the statement each year.

TSF	The Standards Fund – series of grants funded by DfEE and LEA (also SF) Project funding received from Central Government – often has to have LEA funding to make whole scheme (‘matched’ funding)

Unit	A SEN unit within a mainstream school, usually run as a class, which has a focus e.g. language unit or EBD unit (behaviour)
Upper schools	A school for children aged 13 to 16/18 within Hertfordshire. This three tier system (first, middle and upper schools) exists in Berkhamsted, Buntingford and Royston.
