Acronym Meaning
NAACE National Association of Advisers for Computers in Education. NAACE is the professional association for those who are concerned with advancing education through the appropriate use of information and communications technology. NAACEmark accreditation assures schools and colleges that service providers have met a national quality standard.
There are seven service areas in which organisations can be accredited:ICT Education and Training, Helpline and Support Service, ICT Learning and Support/Resource Centres, ICT Information Services, ICT Education Resource Development, Technical Suport, Consultancy for ICT Development Planning in Education

NAHT National Association of Headteachers
NAO National Audit Office
NAPE National Association of Primary Education
NASS National Asylum Support Service
NASUWT National Association of School Masters Union and Women Teachers
NATFHE National Association of teachers in Further and Higher Education
NC National Curriculum - all pupils follow the national curriculum taught in all schools. As part of the NC all pupils undergo national tests and teacher assessments at age 7, 11 and 14, commonly known as SATs.

NO Named Officer - the person from the LEA, based in the local Special Needs team (within CSF) who parents and others can contact about statutory assessments and statements
NOF New Opportunities Fund
Non-maintained school A non-profit making school that charges fees – mostly run by charitable trusts or charities.
NOR Number on roll
Note in lieu A note in which the LEA will set out the reasons for their decision not to make a statement after a statutory assessment.
NP Named Person – Someone independent who is able to offer information and support to the parent of a child going through statutory assessment or who has a statement. This person usually belongs to a voluntary organisation or has attended Named Person training. If a parent chooses to have a Named Person their name is recorded by the LEA when a statement is made or reviewed

NSSEN Non-statemented SEN
NTA Non Teaching Assistant – see LSA
NTL National Telecommunications Ltd – schools service providor for NgFL
Nursery class Class for under fives within an Infant or JMI/Primary schools – ther are approximately 300 of these within Hertfordshire
Nursery school Run as a separate school for under fives with its own headteacher – there are approximately 15 of these across Hertfordshire.
