ContactPoint

ContactPoint will be the simple way for professionals to find out who else is working with a child or young person, making it quicker and easier to deliver more coordinated support.

This basic online directory will be available to authorised people who need it to do their jobs. It will hold basic identifying information on all children in England, up to the age of 18.

It is part of the Every Child Matters programme to improve outcomes for children and young people.

ContactPoint should:

• help children and young people get the support they need quickly and effectively
• help professionals find out whether the child they are working with is receiving universal services (such as education, health care, schooling)
• help professionals to identify the gaps where child's needs are not being met.
