A social care service for Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital and Seward Lodge
The service is for
Patients of all ages staying in hospital or attending day hospital or out-patient clinics, their families and carers.
Parents, children and families at ante-natal clinics, maternity and children’s wards.
Those attending the Accident and Emergency department.
People who will be returning home after a stay in hospital.
People who will be moving to a residential or nursing care home.
What we can offer
Information – on a wide range of social care services.
Help – to plan for coming into and leaving hospital and for ongoing care and support.
Advice – on welfare benefits, housing and other problems.

We are based in two portakabins on the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital site:
next to the elderly care unit - for enquiries concerning elderly people;
and next to the ante-natal clinic - for other enquiries.
We are available between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am and 4.30 pm on Fridays.
There is also an out of hours social worker available till 8pm Monday to Friday, contactable via the A&E department. (To be contacted by Professionals only.)
