Who can phone and who will answer?

Who can phone?

In an emergency anyone can contact the Emergency Duty Team for advice or assistance - you, your relatives, carer, friend or neighbour.

We take calls from the police, doctors and members of private or voluntary organisations.

Anyone who urgently needs advice or assistance from the County Council’s Children, Schools and Families Service or Adult Care Services.

Who will answer?

A trained operator will take a brief message and pass it on to the duty social worker.

The duty social worker will call you back as soon as is possible, generally within the hour. We will respond to all requests for help but may not be able to do so immediately if there are other more urgent matters already being dealt with.

If you are in a public call box, you should let the operator know.
