What the Joint Commissioning Team does

Planning
Our commissioners analyze what the current mental health and learning disability needs are in Hertfordshire and what they are likely to be in future. We consider options for how these needs can best be met. We consult widely and coordinate decision making about what should happen, so that the right services are in place.

Commissioning
Our commissioners draw up service specifications and service level agreements. We commission the services from the suppliers that will provide the best value.

Supplier monitoring and performance management
Our commissioners continually monitor the performance of the service suppliers and ensure that performance improvements are made when needed. Our commissioning and finance staff monitor expenditure to identify where demand for services may be creating budget pressures. We monitor the volume and quality of the services delivered to ensure that the money invested is producing the intended results. We keep track of the key national and local targets that have to be achieved.

Service development and improvement
Our commissioners continually review the range of services available and how well they join up to deliver what is required so that if adjustments are needed they can be identified and the improvements made. Where service developments or improvements are underway our commissioners will ensure that they are delivered on time and to budget.
