Who Cares?...We Do - Hertfordshire's local charter for long term care

Care services in Hertfordshire

If you, or someone close to you, has difficulties associated with old age, long term illness or disability, a range of services is available in Hertfordshire to help you.

Hertfordshire County Council's Adult Care Services, the district and borough councils, the East of England Strategic Health Authority, the county's Primary Care Trusts and voluntary groups all work in partnership to deliver these services under the county's charter for long term care - Better Care, Higher Standards. Our aim is to ensure that those who are elderly or disabled retain as much independence as possible.

Depending on individual needs, help may be available, for example:
  • Social work and occupational therapy support for social care
  • Personal care and support at home
  • Occupational activities outside the home
  • Equipment and minor adaptations to assist disabled people at home
  • Disabled parking badges
  • Short breaks for respite care
  • Carer support
  • Residential and nursing home care.
These services may be provided directly, or you may be given a payment to arrange your own services.
