What support can be arranged by the Communication Support Unit (CSU)?
The CSU can provide Language Service Professionals (LSPs) including:
- Sign language interpreters
- Deafblind interpreters
- Lipspeakers
- Communicators/communication upport workers
- Note-takers (manual or electronic)
- Speech to text reporters (palantypists)
to help people who need communication support to receive services from:
- County councils
- Schools/education
- District councils
- Health authorities
- Other statutory, voluntary and private agencies.
It is important to seek advice regarding the qualification level of the LSPs required. By law, we must provide appropriately qualified and registered LSPs, which may vary with different assignments.
