Standard Fees for Care Homes for the Elderly 2008-9

These are the standard rates paid by Hertfordshire County Council for the year commencing 1st April 2008.

If an elderly person is supported in a Care Home by Hertfordshire, the council will pay the following weekly rates.

Please note that homes may charge higher fees to people making their own arrangements directly. Homes which have higher standard rates than those below may ask for relatives to agree for 'top up' fees to meet the difference.


Elderly - Long Stay

Single Room

• Elderly Care Home with Nursing £538.93 (Including Registered Nursing Care Contribution)
• Block contract rate: Elderly Care Home with Nursing £554.75 (Including Registered Nursing Care Contribution)
• Elderly Care Home with Nursing - Dementia Care and/or Mental Disorder £594.86 (Including Registered Nursing Care Contribution)
• Block contract rate: Elderly Care Home with Nursing - Dementia Care and/or Mental Disorder £611.03 (Including Registered Nursing Care Contribution)

Shared Room

Elderly - Short Stay

• Elderly Care Home with Nursing - Dementia Care and/or Mental Disorder £616.49 (Including Registered Nursing Care Contribution)
• Block contract rate: Elderly Care Home with Nursing - Dementia Care and/or Mental Disorder £632.66 (Including Registered Nursing Care Contribution)

Non-Elderly Persons

As before, there are no standard rates for non-elderly. Fees for 2008-9 represent a 3.0% increase over those for 2007-8.




The above rates are for homes within Hertfordshire. If the county council places people outside Hertfordshire they will normally pay the standard rates of the county or borough where the home is located.
