Equipment, adaptations & repairs to the home (Hertsmere)

There are local voluntary organisations that may be able to help you with minor or major adaptations to your home.

However, we are not aware of any Schemes in this borough.

Hertsmere Borough Council provides financial assistance to some older and/or disabled home owners for adaptations. Home Repair Assistance grants are available for older people on low incomes for work on property to keep it fit for human habitation. Maximum grant is £2,500. These grants are not for tenants of Registered Social Landlords.

If you are arranging property maintenance yourself it is advisable to use a contractor who is registered with a national approval body. Ask friends and neighbours if they have used contractors they would recommend and always get at least two quotes from different firms. It is never advisable to employ people who come to your door offering to do work.
