Shifting the Balance - March 2007

On Friday 9 March 2007, the department hosted a major conference for social care colleagues acrosss Hertfordshire entitled 'Shifting the Balance'.

The event focused on the White Paper, 'Our Health, Our Care, Our Say' with the emphasis on choice and control.

The conference consisted of a variety of presentations, workshops and discussions. There were also exhibitions of a variety of projects and initiatives including our online services, public information leaflets, Money Advice, Telecare, Age Concern and much more.

Sarah Pickup, director of Adult Care Services, gave the keynote speech, outlining her vision for Hertfordshire and how we can work in partnership to achieve even better services.

The workshops covered topics ranging from self-directed support and new models of home care to providing effective support to black and minority ethnic communities and progress with the national carers strategy.
