Developing individual budgets and self directed support…

Self directed support is a system of social care delivery that offers people an opportunity to take control of, and personalise, their support. It gives you greater choice and flexibility and recognises that you are best placed to understand your own needs and how to meet them. This system is delivered through individual budgets, where you are allocated an amount of money depending on your needs.

Individual budgets offer significant improvements for service users and we are working towards introducing them to all new service users from April 2008. You will find more information about individual budgets and how they work in the links below.

To find out if you are eligible to receive help from Adult Care Services please contact us. If you are currently receiving care and support from Adult Care Services then your present services will continue to be organised and delivered as now. Later this year we will start to offer an individual budget to existing service users, and the opportunity to review the services that you receive.
