Registering as disabled (includes deaf)
Why register?Concessions for people who are registered may include:
- Reduced admission charges for leisure centres, cinemas, concerts, etc.
- Reduced fishing licence cost.
- Bus pass (any entitlement is subject to an assessment by the relevant local council, see 'Bus passes' link below for more information).
How to register:
Simply complete the online form below. We will check if you are eligible, contact your GP for confirmation, and then send you a registration card.
Alternatively contact us and ask about being registered as disabled.

If you are already registered, there is no need to complete the online form. But if you need a form stamped (required for Railcards), contact us and we will arrange for it to be done at an office near you. If you lose your card, we can also arrange for a replacement.

NB: You do NOT have to be registered as disabled to qualify for services from Hertfordshire County Council's Adult Care Services or Children, Schools and Families departments, but we are responsible for registration (arising from the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970).
Registration does NOT entitle you to a Blue Badge for parking, nor is it necessary for purchasing equipment for a disability (see link to 'VAT Exemption' above), or for work.
