Ensuring consistent, reliable, reasonable journey times and minimising the impact of congestion on the travelling public. This is not a challenge for us alone; congestion can only be tackled effectively if others, from individual citizens to central government, play a part.

Tackling congestion is one of four shared priorities that we have to deliver as part of the Local Transport Plan 2.

The Highways and Transport Panel receives a congestion action plan on a regular basis.
