Description

The role of each scrutiny committee is to:

• review or scrutinise decisions of the Cabinet or officers
• consider matters referred from meetings of the Council (by way of public petition or motions from members) and make recommendations on them to the Council, Cabinet or Chief Officer.
• scrutinise and make recommendations to the Council, Cabinet or Chief Officer on any particular areas of policy or service delivery which they have chosen to investigate.

This committee will scrutinise issues relation to the following areas:

• overall resource allocation
• the best value performance plan
• community leadership and the Community Strategy
• central support services
• personnel matters
• property resources
• public consultation
• economic and social regeneration
• relations with the Region & Europe
• equality of opportunity
• securing unified access to services
• any other matter which does not fall within the remit of any other Scrutiny Committee.
