Description

The role of each scrutiny committee is to:

• review or scrutinise decisions made by the Cabinet or officers.
• consider matters referred from meetings of the Council (by way of public petition or motions from members) and make recommendations on them to the Council, Cabinet or Chief Officer.
• scrutinise and make recommendations to the Council, Cabinet or Chief Officer on any particulat areas of policy or service delivery which they have chosen to investigate.

The remit of this scrutiny committee is to scrutinise education issues as well as socil services issues relating to children.

The membership includes 16 County Councillors, 4 elected parent Governor Representatives and 2 Church Representatives
