Cabinet

The Cabinet consists of the Leader of the Council andsix members (Executive Members) appointed by the Leader (there are also six Deputy Executive Members who are not members of the Cabinet).The Cabinet members are:

Robert Ellis (LEADER OF THE COUNCIL): Communication, Consultation and Cultural Services (libraries, museums and the arts); Culture including tourism, sport and recreation.

David Beatty (DEPUTY LEADER OF THE COUNCIL and Executive Member for RESOURCES) Deputy Executive Member Alan Searing :Finance (including overall resource allocation); Personnel; Property; Rural Estates; Best Value Performance Plan and Review Programme; the efficiency programme; IT management and development; E-Government; securing unified access to services.

David Lloyd (ADULT CARE AND COMMUNITY SAFETY) Deputy Executive MemberKen Coleman : Adult Care; Gypsy Sites; Relations with Health Service; Fire and Rescue Service; Civil and emergency planning; Trading Standards and consumer protection; Crime and disorder reduction; Registration of births, marriages and deaths; The Coroners Service.

Robert Gordon (EDUCATION) Deputy Executive Member Richard Roberts :Learning and School Effectiveness; CommissioningPerformance and Resources;being schools' focal point of contact in the Cabinet.

Jane Pitman (CHILDREN'S SERVICES) Deputy Executive Member Keith Emsall : Social Care and Prevention; Commissioning Performance and Resources.

Derrick Ashley (STRATEGIC PLANNING AND PARTNERSHIPS) Deputy Executive Member Russell Thomas : County Council strategic planning functions; Local Transport Plan; Development Control Regeneration (economic development); Minerals and Waste Plans; Partnerships with Voluntary Sector; Local Strategic Partnerships and Community Planning; External relations with East of England Regional Assembly(EERA), GLA and Europe.

Stuart Pile (ENVIRONMENT AND TRANSPORTATION) Deputy Executive Member Roy Clements: Hertfordshire Highways; Passenger Transport; Road Safety; Waste Management; Countryside Management; Rights of Way.
