Pet Passport

All rabies susceptible animals entering the UK are required to spend six months in quarantine, unless arriving under and complying with all the conditions of the pet travel scheme (PETS).

The pet travel scheme (PETS) allows a person to bring their pet cats, dogs and ferrets, into (or back into) the UK without quarantine providing all the conditions are met.

This means that people in the UK can take their dogs, cats & ferrets to other EU countries, & return with them to the UK.
They can also, having taken these pets to certain non EU countries, bring them back without the need for quarantine.

The rules are to keep the UK free from rabies and certain other diseases and MUST be followed.

Pet owners are responsible for ensuring their pet meet all the rules for entering the UK under the Pet Travel Scheme. Owners must make sure they have had the procedures carried out in the correct order and their pet’s documentation is correctly completed. If owners do not, their pet may not be able to enter the country or may have to be licensed into quarantine on arrival. This will mean delay and cost the owner money.
