Company information

A wide range of directories covering local, national and international companies is available at the Business Information Point at the Central Resources Library. These can help you find out about potential employers, suppliers of particular products and details of business competitors. Annual reports can be consulted for many of the major UK firms and telephone directories are also available. If you require company mailing lists these can be tailored to your individual requirements and saved to disc as an Excel spreadsheet.

Dun and Bradstreet Business Register
A series of 31 registers covering the UK, which includes businesses with more than five employees or an annual sales turnover in excess of £250,000, and their branches.

FAME
An online company database of over 2 million limited companies in the UK and Ireland. It can be searched by company name, or various criteria such as number of employees, line of business or location.

Kelly’s Industrial Directory
This directory is divided into a classified index and an A - Z sequence of company names. In the classified section full telecom details are given for over 90,000 UK manufacturing and industrial service companies. In the company information section companies are listed alphabetically with address, telecommunications details and trade description.

Key British Enterprises(KBE)
Published by Dun and Bradstreet as a four volume directory. The directory holds details of the UK's top 50,000 actively trading businesses.

Kompass (Western Europe)
Kompass is available in paper copy or on CD-ROM. The UK directory contains details of over 44,000 different products and services offered by industrial companies. The CD-ROM gives access to company records for Western Europe via a variety of selection criteria which can be manipulated to produce tailor-made company mailing lists. Lists can be displayed on screen, printed out or saved to disc by staff.

Regional Leads
Each title focuses on companies in a particular region of Great Britain and helps to identify sales prospects. Each report provides detailed financial information, contact details, principal activities, employee numbers and a credit score. Volumes stocked are Beds, Bucks, Cambs, East and West Essex, Herts, London (East, North, North West, W1, W2-W14), Middlesex (Enfield, Harrow, and Southall)

Telephone Directories
The Business Information Point has a complete set of UK residential and Yellow Pages telephone directories.

Hertfordshire Companies
We hold a selection of the annual reports of the top Hertfordshire companies, as well as Regional Leads for Hertfordshire and the Dun and Bradstreet Business Register for Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. In addition we can create individually tailored lists of Hertfordshire companies by various criteria using FAME and Kompass.
