How Purchasing is organised within Hertfordshire County Council

The Council spends over £500 million each year on a wide range of Goods, Works and Services and is always looking for more effective ways of making this money go further.

Many contracts are advertised on Tender Opportunities. You will find these in the Contracts and Tenders Section click on the right of the screen. Tenders with a value that exceeds the current EU Thresholds are also advertised in Europe. See the current EU Thresholds document below.

The Council aims to make Purchases at the most effective level, which may be within Departments:
or through the Council’s purchasing organisation, Hertfordshire Business Services, incorporating Hertfordshire Supplies, which deals with all contracts above the EU thresholds OJEU Tenders, all items in common use and arranges many contracts for Goods and Services to the County Council including schools.
