A quick link to the current population estimates for places or areas in Hertfordshire is available below.
Information on population is available from a variety of sources, including the ten yearly National Census, annual population estimates and projections of the population in the future.
Census results are the most accurate for a range of population related subjects but are only produced every 10 years. Detailed results from the 2001 Census are available on hertsdirect.org. The 2011 Census was carried out last year, the first results from this were published on 16th July 2012. Annual population estimates from the Office for National Statistics are the most up to date, the latest data is for mid-2011, but the estimates are only available broken down by gender and age group and are only available for certain geographic levels. The Office for National Statistics produces projected populations over the next 25 years for Hertfordshire and the ten district council areas. The Department for Communities and Local Government produces projected household counts over the next 25 years for Hertfordshire and the ten district council areas.
