A County Council Election took place on Thursday 2 May 2013. There was election to all 77 seats on Hertfordshire County Council.
The Notice of Election which formally marks the start of the election process was published on Tuesday 26 March 2013.
For future elections, becoming a candidate for election is simple. You do not need to be a member of a political party. You must be at least 18 on the day of nomination, be a British citizen or a citizen of any of the other member states of the European Union and be on the register of electors within the county area or have lived or worked or occupied land as owner or tenant within the county the county area during the 12 months prior to nomination.
You can collect the nomination papers from the Electoral Administrator for the District or Borough Council within which the County Council Division that you wish to stand is situated. If you would like further information on qualifications to stand as a candidate there is useful information on the Electoral Commission website.
