My front-line role
I am the Conservative County Councillor for All Saints Division in Hertford. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events, and contacts about the area.
I am also a Town Councillor for Bengeo Ward, and currently the Mayor of Hertford.
I represent the interests of those constituents in my division and also work with the local district council, East Herts Council and my local MP Mr Mark Prisk.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I became a County Councillor in 2005 and served as Executive Member for Adult Care Services up to May 2009. I am now the Chairman of the Health Scrutiny Committee, which scrutinises health provision in Hertfordshire.
I sit on the Hertfordshire Police Authority and am the Police Authority Lead for East Herts. I am on the Resources Committee, Community Engagement Committee and HR Scrutiny Committee.
Panels I have sat on include Adult Care and Health, Environment and Planning, and LSP Board East Herts, and Community and Safety Partnership East Herts. I am also on the Joint Member Transport Panel.
Roles on outside bodies
I am a trustee of the Crouchfield Trust and trustee and Chairman of Herts Aid (Charity).
I am the town representative on the Waterford Heath Committee.
I am a school governor at Presdales School in Ware.
Personal, professional and political
Prior to becoming a full time councillor I was a medical representative in the pharmaceutical industry for 23 years.
I started out work as a laboratory technician in research at the Royal Veterinary College in Potters Bar.
I am a farmer’s wife with one son and two spaniels.
I support a green agenda, and all rural and environmental work. I am a conservationist at heart.
I believe in community, and supporting volunteers.
