My front-line role
I am the Conservative County Councillor for Welwyn division. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events and contacts about the area.
I represent the interests of around 15,000 residents in the communities of The Ayots, Welwyn, Digswell, Oaklands & Mardley Heath, Woolmer Green, Sherrardspark & Knightsfield.
Residents who wish to raise any issue with me are welcome to do so at any time, whether by e-mail, letter or telephone. I will always deal promptly with casework issues.
As is the case with every County Councillor, I have a locality budget of £10,000 a year to spend on community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.
My County Council responsibilities
I currently sit on the Overview & Scrutiny Committee and am Chairman of the Development Control Committee.
Roles on outside bodies
As a member of the Hertfordshire Police Authority I have taken a particular interest in what is now known as the Extended Police Family – which includes Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), accredited staff such as Welwyn Hatfield Council’s (WHC) Street Wardens, much strengthened Neighbourhood Watch schemes and a wide range of enforcement officers from other agencies. Both HCC and WHC are funding PCSOs in the District and every Ward has a named Neighbourhood Police Officer responsible for setting local policing priorities in consultation with local residents. I am also Vice-Chairman on the Welwyn Hatfield Highways Joint Member Panel.
